The Cultural Centre brings people and organisations together

M+R interior architecture realised the interior for the catering industry; library; cultural cluster, theatre and cultural institution such as the theatre and music association on behalf of the Cultural Centre foundation in Krimpen aan de Lek. The interior design is in line with the archetype of the Cultural Centre, the interior architectural design exudes a total image, is flexible and sustainable. The central meeting space is an integrated design, in which the catering industry and the library merge seamlessly. The presentation of the collection is flexible and can easily be moved so that the space can be used multifunctionally.

Connecting and collaborating: two key words that the Cultural Centre stands for. The Cultural Centre offers activities for young and old, and this as much as possible in collaboration with associations, schools, entrepreneurs and shopkeepers from Krimpen aan de Lek and beyond. The activities in the Cultural Centre fall into the categories ‘Cultural’, ‘Creative’, ‘Educational’ and ‘Informative’.

The mission of the Cultuurhuis is to develop an integrated social and business service offering tailored to the needs of, among other things, housing, welfare, education, art and culture. Concentrated under one roof, accessible with a joint programming of activities under one management and one control. M+R designed this vibrant meeting place in the new village centre of Krimpen aan de Lek.

The ‘Kulturhus’ for improving the welfare and vitality of villages and neighbourhoods.
Where people come together, something happens. The word Cultuurhuis comes from ‘Kulturhus’ and is a Scandinavian concept. It stands for a versatile community centre where more is shared than just the front door. In Krimpen aan de Lek, the concept ‘Kulturhus’ has been translated into Cultuurhuis. The Cultuurhuis is all the cultural facilities under one roof in Krimpen aan de Lek. The joint management and joint programming by the participating organisations play a major role in the functioning of the Cultuurhuis.
